Exegesis

I created this blog which is my central note for my web presence for my Web Communication unit.  Creating a web presence is part of my assignment.  For my web presence, the platform which I have decided to use with the help of my lecturer and some close friends is a blog rather that a web page.  I was advised to create a blog as I decide to do critical analysis on films which I had watched.  I used the site ‘Blogger’ for my blog.  I have always thought that web presence like blogs were useless especially for me as a creator of a weblog as I did not have time for that.  Yet those platforms are very interesting as we can post our personal thoughts online by a simple click.

Let’s see what a blog is.  A weblog or more commonly said a blog is a personal journal which is available on the web.  It is normally written by one person and is updated very often.  The blog can be written by a group of person as well.  Blog is usually written on a particular topic.  There is a lot of blogs which are written on mostly any topic you can think of.  You can see blogs on photography, spirituality, recipes and personal diaries to hobbies.  The action of constantly updating a blog is called blogging.  Blogging has so many applications and varieties that you can imagine.
The blog has the ability to connect people around the world.  You can share your personal ideas and others can learn from them as you also can learn from their ideas.  Contact and relationship are by this created and many opportunities are open like making new friends or getting a job.  If you create a proper blog which is constantly updates then you become a blogger.  Posting is the action of adding new materials on a blog and it is almost always arranged in chronological order with the most recent additions featured most prominently (Darren Rowse, 2005).

The blog site where I went to create my blog is called ‘Blogger.’  I preferred to go on it because many of my friends were going on this site.  I did know anything about creating a blog but what my friend said was true as it is easy on Blogger.

To you know how Blogger was created?  Blogger started with a small company in San Francisco called Pyra Labs in 1999.  This was in the middle of the dot-com boom.  There were three friends, who were funded by doing annoying contract web projects for big companies, trying to make their own grand entrance onto the Internet landscape. What they were originally trying to do does not matter so much now. But while doing it, they created Blogger.  Blogger took off, in a small way, and eventually a bigger way, some years later.  They raised a little money but stayed small.
Then the bust happened, and they ran out of money, and their fun little journey was no more.  They hardly survived, not all in one piece, but kept the service going the whole time and started building it back up.  Things were going well again in 2002.  They had hundreds of thousands of users, though still just a few people.  After that something no one expected happened when Google wanted to buy us.  Now they are a small but slightly bigger than before, team in Google focusing on helping people has their own voice on the web and organizing the world's information from the personal perspective (The Story of Blogger, n.d.).

The theme that I have chosen for my blog is critical analysis for films which I have watched.  I really like films and I can say that I am a passionate fan of comedies, horrors, actions and fantasies films.  I was guided to make my blog towards this theme.

Here are some guidelines from which I can learn how to make critics:
Firstly I should offer my overall impression of the film while mentioning the movie's title, director, and key actors.

Secondly I would have to summarize the plot of the film.

Thirdly I should ask myself how the actors portrayed key character roles.  Did they fulfilled your expectations given your knowledge of the original novel or play if it is based on one?

Fourthly I should question myself if there were any particular film techniques used in key scenes?  How did the film techniques and music enhance the setting and themes of the film?  I may need two paragraphs to explain this information.

Fifthly I should address how well the film represents the novel or play.  I would have to offer evidence for my opinion. Remember to mention use of symbols and literary devices.  Do they "transfer" from the novel/play into the movie well?

Sixthly the ending paragraph would be my last opportunity to guide the reader.  I would have to offer a clincher that tells the reader to attend the film or not (M. Garbis & C. Adams, 2001).

The colors that I have wanted to put in my blog are quite simple as I like simple things.  I have chosen the black and white colors.  The black is not so simple finally as it is nuanced and seems to have a little grey which change the tone of the background.  I pretty like the combination of dark and light colors.
I think that using colors is a way of expressing ourselves.  The colors show what we feel and what we really are (Sarah, n.d).

The contributing nodes that I am using for my web presence are Facebook, Twitter and Delicious.  I tried to use YouTube but the copyright stop me.  I used those websites because they are well known around the world so that my blog can be seen by many people.

I was very pessimist by the idea of making a blog at the beginning but yet I must say now that it is pretty exciting to create one.  My mind has changed due to new experience.
